How many times have you thought about renting a boat and taking a tour of Silver Lake? Or just having a meal and feeling the peace and serenity of the water?
Mack's Boat Livery on Lake Shore Drive in Castile offers just that. Frank Malone bought the business in April 2006 with the vision of serving meals as well as the boat and bait business. While doing some work at the lake he saw the boat rental and bait business was for sale. His vision is becoming a reality as the boat rental is brisk and the cottages are being reserved but the restaurant part of it all is the frosting on the cake. Open 7 days a week from 7a.m. to 9 p.m. Frank and his cousin Sergio Forte who is the manager, serve food that is a taste of Italy. Their pizza with homemade crust and fresh vegetables is cooked to perfection. You can sit at the granite counter or inviting café tables while you enjoy a homestyle breakfast. Omelet's, eggs your way or melt in your mouth pancakes highlight the breakfast menu. If you're not an early morning breakfast person, that's okay because it's served all day.
Every menu item is tested and sampled until it reaches perfection. Pasta dishes, Delmonico and strip steaks are just a few dinner items and what would Friday be without a fish fry? When the business was purchased, three party boats were added to the 10 fishing boats with 6 horse Evenrude motors that can be rented. The party boats are a popular rental for family days on Silver Lake and birthday parties. Being the only business on the lake that rents boats and sells bait.... it's a hot spot for anglers. Ice fisherman will enjoy the warm meals served including beef stew and chili.
Plans for the future include a large deck overlooking Silver Lake. With the great food and friendly clean atmosphere they won't have any problems fulfilling Frank Malone's biggest desire, "Making new friends."
